Nextcloud online service is used by small and large enterprise businesses. It can also be used by individuals like me that appreciate its diversified functionality. I take advantage of very little of Nextcloud’s capabilities, but what I do use is great.
Nextcloud has a few hundred Apps and modules with all kinds of functionality. Here is an example of just a few from their App Store.
You can instal and setup any of these Apps or modules in your Nextcloud installation. If you do not like the App, then you can easily remove it.
One of the Apps that comes pre-installed in Nextcloud is “Files”. “Files” is a mirror of stuff on your computer hard drive. It connects to your computer using the Nextcloud Sync App which can be installed from their website. Here is a look at my “Files” sync in Nextcloud.
I only sync my Documents folder. If something else gets broken, I can always reinstall it or reinstall the macOS. The thing I cannot replace is my Documents. Whenever I change something in the Documents folder on my Mac, the Nextcloud sync App updates the backup mirror on the Nextcloud server version. It is seamless and very fast.
