A few years ago I underwent a knee replacement. If the procedure is not truly necessary, I would suggest avoiding it. Yet if you endure substantial pain, it becomes worthwhile. The surgery and physical therapy involve considerable discomfort. This is short-term pain for long-term gain.

It has been stable for a couple of years, but the knee has begun to ache again. I visited my orthopedic surgeon, who attributed the discomfort to scar tissue. I arranged another procedure for cleanup, expecting a milder recovery. The operation is outpatient and Arthroscopic, so it is less invasive than a replacement.

The early recovery phase is challenging, yet it should ease my pain in the future. I hope physical therapy will not be necessary, as it can be quite uncomfortable. I will simply wait and see.
