Each season brings distinct duties for yard care, and Fall is no different. In our area, Fall centers on yard cleanup. Many flowers and plants that thrived in Spring and Summer must be cut back and cleared away. For us, this includes sunflowers, Maximilians, and several other species. They have finished blooming and are ready for removal.

So, how do you clear all this material? You might hire a junk removal service, though that requires money. We typically cut it into smaller pieces and place some in the trash. The rest goes into garbage bags or tied bundles for the garbage man. He likely dislikes the fall season in our neighborhood. Most residents here have half-acre lots, and some, like us, have three-quarter-acre lots. That creates a great deal of vegetation waste for him.1

Removing plants typically requires two or three weeks to complete, and we are currently working through that phase. The yard consistently appears much cleaner once the cleanup concludes. The Winter season follows, bringing its own distinct preparation requirements.
