I had a knee replacement about 2 years ago. It has worked well for me all this time, until a few months ago. The knee became quite painful. I went to my Orthopedic Surgeon who said it was scar tissue causing the pain. I had Arthroscopy surgery on that knee yesterday, here is how it went.
Signin
I had to be at the surgery center at 6am. Even though I filled out all of their paperwork online before arriving, there were still several forms to fill out. After that, I waited until I was called back into the surgery center.
Surgery Prep
During preparation for surgery they get you into a gown. They also have to insert an IV connection. They had a great deal of trouble finding my veins. I assured them I thought I had some in there somewhere. After about three painful tries, they finally got it. And, of course, there were more forms to fill out at this step.
Surgery
They wheeled me into surgery. I really like the way these people are orangized. Once in the surgery room, you are connected to all kinds of tubes and cables. The best part about this is from the time you enter the room until they put you under is only about 5 minutes. Then you wake up in Recovery with a fixed up knee.
Recovery
The recovery nurse helps you get dressed and removes all the cable connectors stuck everywhere on your body. That is a little painful, but also a welcome relief. Of course, while waiting in recovery, there are more forms! By now I was getting writers cramp. My wife even had to fill out a form stating she would promise to be with me for 24 hours. Really? She has been with me for 48 years. Don’t think she is going anywhere and neither am I!
End Result
The end result is a knee that is repaired. Hopefully, there will be less pain after the recovery period. These folks were very efficient. We got there at 6am and were driving home at 8:45am. Pretty impressive. They were all very courteous and helpful. No kindness and assistance was sacrificed to efficiency. They really do take care of you.
Hoping for a good result for my knee after a few weeks of rehab and healing. I will have to see how that goes.
